It's time for open communication from our Mayor, Town Council and Town Manager to the people they are elected and hired to serve!
Don't tell us the Town Hall is going to cost a bit over $2.5 million dollars when it really is going to cost, with interest, close to $7 million dollars !!
When I am elected to serve as Mayor, I will try to make sure that every issue the Town Council considers is disclosed completely and fully, well in advance of the meetings in which they consider them.
We have a web site; let's use it to communicate ! Post the information in the newspapers, at Town Hall, at the Library...... any venue available to make sure the public has ALL of the information BEFORE the Town Council meets.
One word to describe my major goal for our Town;
Sunshine !!!
The sun should 'shine' on everything done by our elected officials, in a way that makes it easy for members of the public to voice their opinions.
Courtesy, respect and an eager to please attitude should be the mantra of every person who is employed by the town towards members of the public.
If employees are happy in their positions, eager to do a good job and proud of the accomplishments, then their greetings to the public will be "Good Morning, Sunshine!"
ANY problems should be dealt with immediately and with a goal of resolving those problems quickly and completely.

Our "Out of Control" Budget
The just-approved Fiscal 2009-2010 $24,000.000.00 budget is the largest in history of Oak Island. This budget is very close to double the budget of Fiscal 2003-2005 of $13,000,000.00.
The property tax revenue portion of the budget of $5,800,000.00 is also the highest in the town's history.
In the current economic environment, I believe better fiscal management and responsibility are needed.
