Many in town who disagree with me on the issues wish to give the impression that I'm the owner of the Oakislandwoman web site. Depending on your opinion of the issues, that could be a good thing or a bad thing.FACT; Once and for all, and I'm not sure how many out there even care, but I am NOT 'the' Oakislandwoman. There's no way that I know of to prove that particular statement, other than to point out how simple any web site I create really is, such as this one. I just don't have the expertise in web hosting that's needed to create a web site as extensive as the Oakislandwoman. ■ Beer on The Beach
That rumor that I want to stop all beer drinking on the beach is totally false. Though I don't drink myself, (only because I don't like the taste), I have nothing against someone enjoying a nice drink or a cold beer while they're trying to catch that citation flounder.What I DO have a MAJOR problem with is any situation in which drunks are allowed to ruin the enjoyment of anyone visiting one of our establishments, driving after they've imbibed, or causing such a public disturbance that the police have to tazer them to protect themselves as well as the public. Too many instances in the past few months have been allowed to be ignored; I want ALL ABC laws, public nuisance laws and DWI/DUI laws enforced fully and equitably.My stand on alcoholic beverages is the same as my stand on any issue of law and ordinances; Obey the law, and Enforce the law.■ Endorsements
I have been told by several people that at least one of the candidates for Town Council is stating that I not only endorse his candidacy, but also that I am campaigning for office 'with' him as a team.That statement by the candidate is totally and completely false. The campaign for the office of Mayor is much different than that of a Town Council seat. Voters should inform themselves on the positions of all of the Council candidates and vote for their chosen candidate based only on that knowledge, not because of any association with the candidates for the Office of Mayor. If anyone out there wishes to discuss any of my views and opinions on the individual candidates for Council, I can be reached at my home number or by email. If anyone out there makes any statement to you that is known not to be true or doesn't sound like an opinion I would have, please contact me so I can personally answer any questions or clarify any issue.
